Literary Art in Motion and Within Your Reach!
All year long, we host literary events for teens that build bridges to new worlds. Authors, writers, and poets of all ages dive into book debates, sharpen their wordsmith skills, perform poetry, read excerpts, and meet literary heroes at our events to live the stories they want to tell.
I write for the very reason I breathe. It's the only way. It's how I make a living. It's how I'm okay mentally. It's how I express my emotions. —delmetria millener
Literary Café. Teens meet up at this pop-up event to write letters, poetry, prose, and narratives that celebrate the past, present, and future. We host live Lit Zine readings, and teens read some of their favorite books or discover new ones that are rare or hard-to-find at school and in libraries.
Poetry Gumbo. Join us annually, during National Poetry Month, for a serving of contemporary, in-your-face poetry that elevates, inspires, and energizes the entire community. Find your flow at this entertaining night of lyrical poetry, vending, prizes and networking fun.
Rough Drafts: Street Side Museum Presents. This public exhibition is a means for teen writers, artists, designers, literary architects, and planners who have been a part of #TeenWritersProject in some way to articulate the implicit values of their city while determining what the city is.
Young Writers Contest. Teens submit their creative work for a chance to win cash prizes and swag, get featured in The #TWP Quarterly Lit Zine and read their stories live at the Dallas Literary Festival.
