Literary Café
"Reading is not a trend. It's a lifestyle."
#TWP's pop-up Literary Café is an unforgettable day of creativity and community for teen writers and bookworms alike. Teen writers and readers are invited to connect in community and explore different cultures through books, cuisine, culture, and communication. It's a unique blend of creativity, community, and the joy of discovering new perspectives.
"Create unforgettable memories..."
Teens come together in a café, bookstore, library, or community center to listen to and break bread with authors from different backgrounds, then pen letters, poetry, prose, or images that reflect an understanding of their own culture and how food, books, and griot have impacted their background, what's to come, and their hopes for the future.
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one." -George R.R. Martin
For the entire event, teens can cozy up with their favorite book or discover new ones about their culture or an unfamiliar culture and be transported to other worlds!
We provide food to fuel creativity, live readings to spark inspiration, guided writing to hone craft, a notebook to capture every idea, and plenty of fun.
Join us for a day of words, wonder, and reading! It's a chance to reflect, celebrate, and imagine what their literary futures hold.
