How Sound Stage Works
Sound Stage Submissions. Write a 5 to 15-minute script, then submit it to us for publication consideration.
Sound Stage Production. Once we've chosen a script to publish, the Sound Stage team takes on the tasks of casting teen actors, orchestrating rehearsals, and eventually recording the script, bringing it alive in a rich auditory medium.
Feature In The #TWP Quarterly Lit Zine. Sound Stage-curated scripts are featured in our Lit Zine and includes a script synopsis, a bio of the budding playwright and actors, and a QR code leading readers to the online audio performance.

To Perform
- Must be a high school student or up to a 2nd year college student to perform.
- Submit a 1-2 minute audio recording. This could be a reading from a chosen script or a personal introduction. (Here, we are looking for: clarity, diction, enunciation, pronunciation, tone, range, adaptation to various characters or moods, inflection, pacing, rhythm, control, speed, flow, expression, emotion, versatility: ability to switch between different styles, accents, or character voices if necessary, consistency, quality, other unique qualities.)
- Teacher Recommendation. This can come from any teacher at your school who knows you well. It must include the teacher's full name and school-issued email.
- Statement of Interest and Resume. A brief written statement is required (200-300 words) explaining why you're interested in performing for Sound Stage and what you hope to bring to, and gain from, the experience. Your resume must detail any previous acting or voice-over experience. (Please provide this information in one document.)
By embedding the Sound Stage productions into The #TWP Quarterly Lit Zine, we do more than just exhibit the written word. We champion the dynamic art of audio theater, giving teen scriptwriters a dual stage: one in print and the other in performance.
