During the school year, from September to June, join us online for our free weekend writing and performance workshops!

Participating teens will explore writing prose and poetry, using prompts in response to the world around them.

HOLIDAY BONUS! College Entrance Essays 101
Trying to get into college is hard enough. You have to have decent grades, a good GPA, be social, humanitarian...the list is never-ending! But one thing that does not have to be hard is writing your college entrance essays!

If you struggle with knowing what to write, as bonus, every Saturday in December while you're on holiday break, join us online to learn how to write college entrance essays that get you noticed!

What you can learn from each session:

Writing
  • Deconstructing prompts
  • Effective brainstorming
  • How to write effective thesis statements
  • Writing relevant topic sentences
  • Staying on topic
  • Add depth/complexity to your essay
  • Write real-world conclusions
  • Incorporate academic vocabulary

Social Engagement
  • Being exposed to new ideas
  • Exploring various world perspectives so that you can use them when writing
  • Building effective written and verbal communication skills

Academic Merit
  • Improve overall writing skills
  • Stop being intimated by any genre of writing
  • Experimenting with literary devices in your academic writing
  • Adding creativity to your writing
  • Become a more concise writer when necessary
  • Develop critical-thinking skills

Want to find out how to get in a school for writing? When the essay writing session is over, then stick around for our Applications, Registration and Tuition session to chat with admissions and financial aid counselors to find out what colleges and universities offer quality prose, poetry, screenwriting and journalism writing programs. 

Enrollment is open to all skill levels, age 14-19. Bring a pencil or pen and a friend—we'll challenge you on the rest. Every Saturday, 7:30 pm CST on Zoom.
