WRITING WORKSHOP
Think literary circles with an end game: teen writers who will be confident and published before they graduate!
We are singularly motivated to inspire teenage writers to create thought-provoking content that will give voice to each chapter of their personal stories, and give them access to economic, racial, and social equity.
To help us achieve this essential motive, we create experiences designed to revive the love of writing in high school students, then make them come to life by hosting quarterly writing salons. This session helps high school teens discover how life-changing writing can be!
Prior to each session, teens will have already submitted their work to each other. During the session, teens learn effective strategies for giving and receiving feedback and how to process constructive criticism in a safe, harmless space.
Workshopping in community with other writers in this way can improve the reading, writing, social, emotional, cultural, and creative skills in high school storytellers, and provide creative and cultural expression to teen writers of all genres and levels. It also builds storytelling skills, and allow teens to receive and provide literary support, one word at a time.
