CREATIVE WRITING STRATEGY SESSION
Our Teen Writers Reflection Journal gives new meaning to the Writing Wednesday experience in high school classrooms!
During this training, we partner with teachers and use creative writing to get students to take a closer look at themselves, their goals, and their world in ways that are fun, equitable, and engaging.
We practice: With our “My S.P.E.E.C.H. Anthropology,” a writing blueprint we developed, students will be able to organize, draft, and synthesize what they discover in the form of prose and poetry as they improve their storytelling ability.
We prepare: All students are given a copy of our Teen Writer's Reflection Journal as a prevention resource that blends storytelling with Social-Emotional Learning to balance mental and emotional health at school.
We produce: Our interactive, skills-based approach targets students in the bubble and alleviates some teacher workload by serving as writing lab teachers or writing club facilitators.
We publish: Students will publish at least one piece of original work in our Lit Zine, The #TWP Quarterly to give them agency and autonomy over stories they want to read.
We perform: Students are invited to participate in a culminating interdisciplinary recruitment presentation where they present and defend their work and invite other schools to make #TWP a part of their writing routine.

Students to learn how writing can change their worlds and their lives. They will begin to use their imaginations and voices as their power freely and creatively without judgement!
