CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOPS
Our Teen Writers Reflection Journal gives new meaning to the Writing Wednesday experience in high school classrooms!

We use our Teen Writer's Reflection Journal as a companion resource to blend writing with Social-Emotional Learning to balance students' mental and emotional health at school. They are able to take a closer look at themselves, their goals, and their world, then organize, draft, and synthesize what they discover in the form of prose and poetry, and tell the stories they want to tell—not the ones they'll be told.

We do this using “My S.P.E.E.C.H. Anthropology”—a writing blueprint we developed and included in our reflection journal that helps teens develop or improve their storytelling ability. Students get to use writing, discussion, images, critical feedback and thinking, reflection and presentation to turn their words into publishable pieces of work.

It's the perfect way for students to learn how writing can change their worlds and their lives. They will begin to use their imaginations and voices as their power freely and creatively without judgement.
